Total Eclipse
At our Florida home, the shuttle launches can be seen by
a sighted person on a very clear night.
The neighbors gather around between our homes and watch
the shuttle go up, all making comments about it, and I am usually looking in the
wrong direction.
I have joined them for neighborly fellowship on almost
every launch.
But one day there was another event that all the
neighbors wanted to gather for. That was a total eclipse of the moon at 11.05
pm.
We neighbors all agreed that we were going to again meet
and watch it when it came time.
Right at 11 PM, I woke Diane for the big event, and said
come on, let’s go watch the eclipse. She got up, but couldn’t find her
glasses. So, I went out to meet everyone at the road.
None of the neighbors came out, and Diane couldn’t find her
glasses until the eclipse was well over
I suddenly realized that I was the only one standing out
in the middle of the road, watching this total eclipse, and thinking, “What’s
wrong with this picture”?
