I'll have a Genesee Cream Ale please
It was December 18, 1972.
My best friend Mike McCartan, myself, and another friend
Jack, decide to go on a hunting trip to Naples, in my bright, red white and
blue van, with a white star on the front. It was a very rare 1963 Corban. I
wish I still had it.
We brought plenty of beer for all of us for the trip in
the van, but we were hungry and thirsty almost arriving into the town of
Naples.
We pulled into a bar/restaurant, went in and sat at a
table, ready to be served.
The legal drinking age at this time was 18.
Jack and I were both 17 years old, and Mike was the
oldest, as he had turned 18, the day before on the 17th.
The waitress asked us boys if we wanted something to
drink, and we all replied, I'll have a Genesee Cream Ale.
The waitress then looked at Mike and said, "do you
have an id?”
Mike replied, "I just turned 18 yesterday, and I
haven't had a chance to get my id yet."
She said, "I'm sorry, I cannot serve you without an
id, would you like something else?"
Mike said, "I guess I'll have a coke then."
She then went and got 2 cream ale's for Jack and I, and
Mike ended up with a coke.
PS. There is so much more to this particular hunting
trip that is untold in this story.
