TAKE IT OFF YOUR SELF
On the junkyard, Dad used to let customers take off their
own parts if he happened to be busy.
Dad was eating at the kitchen table one day when a policeman
approached the screen door and knocked.
This was the winter time.
Dad asked the man to come in.
When the guy did, he had to lean down to walk in the
house.
He asked Dad if he had a tail light for a car.
Dad said, "Yes, it's in the back if you want to take
it off yourself for 50 cents."
The man agreed.
After a while, the guy came to the door and paid Dad for
the part.
Later, Dad walked out to the back to resume his work.
Dad saw the tracks of the car that the man was driving
and saw where he got stuck and just spun a rut in the mud, under the
Snow.
Dad also observed footprints walking around the car and
saw that the car was lifted and placed over to resume his trip.
I don't think that I'd like to tangle with that guy in a
dark alley.
