There was a song by John Denver that impacted me in a seminar very deeply that coincided with my spirituality.

The song is called: "IT'S ABOUT TIME".

There's a full moon over India and Gandhi lives again.

Who's to say you have to lose for someone else to win?

In the eyes of all the people, the look is much the same,

for the first is just the last one when you play a deadly game.

It's about time we realize it, we're all in this together.

It's about time we find out, it's all of us or none.

It's about time we recognize it, these changes in the weather.

It's about time, it's about changes, and it's about time.

There's a light in the Vatican window for all the world to see

and a voice cries in the wilderness and sometimes he speaks for me.

I suppose I love him most of all when he kneels to kiss the land,

with his lips upon our mother's breast, he makes his strongest stand.

It's about time we start to see it, the earth is our only home.

It's about time we start to face it, we can't make it here all alone.

It's about time we start to listen to the voices in the wind,

it's about time and it's about changes and it's about time.

There's a man who is my brother, I just don't know his name.

But I know his home and family because I know we feel the same.

And it hurts me when he's hungry and when his children cry.

I too am a father, and that little one is mine.

It's about time we begin it, to turn the world around.

It's about time we start to make it, the dream we've always known.

It's about time we start to live it, the family of man.

It's about time, it's about changes and it's about time.

It's about peace and it's about plenty and it's about time,

It's about you and me together and it's about time.

This song did not conflict with my spirituality, but it matched my soul when I suddenly realized that, in our human bodies, we are all in this together on this planet called Earth.

From what I've been through, I have come to know through faith, that we are created by God and that God has control of all, allowing us to follow our own feelings and egotistical energy to rebel and to act out so many undisciplined, childish, behaviors just like children in adult bodies.

One of the primary things that recovery from alcoholism has done for me has taken my self esteem, that was the lowest on earth, way up to a level equal to anyone else in a human body on this earth, knowing that there is only 1 creator and that we all are accountable to this creator whether we know it or not.

For if we refuse to believe, it may give us an excuse to not be accountable to anyone but ourselves, unless you are a victim and can easily blame anyone else for your undisciplined lifestyle.

And, I don't have to be a Bible thumper on this subject because I believe that this creator has placed a conscious and a knowing when we are doing right or wrong in our hearts already.  And, if we are really honest with ourselves, we know our own motives for the things we do.

I know that we all have flaws, including myself, which enables us to "do our own thing", and with "my own thing", undisciplined, almost destroyed me.

I really didn't know that I had a hidden, unrecognized God called self-centeredness in me that usually always placed the focus back onto me, in all of my self pity, depression and loneliness growing up.

And although we didn't have hardly any money growing up, my parents were a wonderful set of models of family when it came to unconditional love and acceptance, a little glimmer of what God offers us if we so choose to accept it.

Having to choose where my bottom was, then choosing recovery, I was introduced principals to live by in a 12 step group, and by living by them, helped save my life, help to get out of that self-centered bondage, and learned how to give to others outside of myself.

By living by principal and not necessarily my thoughts or feelings, I am living a very different life now.  A life that rewards me by doing the right things by principal that do match with the right or wrong conscious I have in my heart.

By living this way, the awe inspiring thoughts and feelings follow these principals instead of the other way around.

The principals that I am referring to are not religious, but are totally spiritual.  Though they are derived strictly from the Holy Bible, the life saving principals were simplified for a life changing chance to be able to get to a "poor wretch" like me.

One of the principals that I was instructed to live by is lifting up others, to consider who they are, respect them and to seek out how to better their lives in an other centered mode.  For I had lived the opposite for many years.

I am also instructed to lift up others in prayer, to the God that saved me, especially to pray for the leaders of the world, for that is the right that he gives us, now knowing that I am no longer in charge.

I have lifted up our world leaders, current and previous by principal and not by feeling, as anyone who knows me, how I love to debate politics with my friends!, NOT!

I don't know why I was chosen to be saved, but the fact is that I was saved, and now, with the ability to be able to share my experience, strength and hope with others instead of that self-centered bondage that I was so terribly stuck in.

Therefore, being able to recognize my own selfish motives, and then choosing otherwise, I also have gained much insight with recognition with motives in others, especially those in power and influence of money.

I have lived in both worlds, self-centered and recovery, though recovery is slow, I want to choose recovery as it is a much better life for me and now I wish this for America, the land that my children and grandchildren are inheriting beyond me.

Now I see the world with constant, deceiving power struggles that causes only division, anger and destruction, and as a nation, we claim to be free.

My good friend Ross gave me his thoughts on the difference between a leader and a victim, that I can also equate along the difference between self-centered and God centered.

THE Difference    Between LEADERS AND VICTIMS

Leaders make mistakes and say, "I made a mistake, and make up for

it. Victims make mistakes and say, "I'm Sorry," and do the same

thing the next time.

Leaders say "I'm good, but not as good as I can be, yet."

Victims say "I'm not as bad as a lot of other people.'?

Leaders get compliments and say 'Thank you."

Victims get compliments and make excuses or jokes.

Leaders affect others.

- - Victims are affected by others.

Leaders would rather be admired than liked, and wind up having an

abundance of both.

Victims would rather be liked than admired, and wind up having

little of either.

Leaders respect others and try to learn something from them.

Victims resent others and try to find their faults.

Leaders stand for something and are willing to fight for it if

necessary.

Victims stand for nothing and either fight about everything,

 or nothing.

- There are essentially two categories of people in the world...

leaders and victims. Leaders are those whose purpose seems to be

to inspire and motivate victims until the become leaders. Victims

are those whose purpose seems to be to criticize and resist

leaders until they become Victims."

                                          Ross Q.

The word "politics" is actually derived from the Greek meaning, "many blood sucking creatures", look it up on Google.

And though our elected leaders are only human themselves, there is so much deceit, manipulating, controlling, money hungry, power grabbing, self centered behaviors going on continuously.

But the main thing that is going on right now is rebellion against God and each other in Washington.

These people were originally elected and hired  to serve and represent the people of the United States as all people, including Washington had the power and decision making to dictates what happens to America as a whole.

But, another quote I heard comes to mind.

"The end of democracy is when the politicians can start voting for them selves."

I don't believe that lobbyist and special interest groups and stroking of egos started with the declaration of the United States of America.

to me, buying off politicians is nothing less than prostitution, for selfish gain.

Even down to the judges and lawyers, do you have injury attorney TV commercials in your state?  I'm sure that they are laughing all the way to the bank while lives of accident victims are destroyed.

Their form of control is like underground, never brought up in the public eye.

Now we have people coming to a rally or protest wearing a mask and carrying baseball bats?  Anger that is trying to wipe out our history, pulling down statues?, huge violent protests that leave a mess for the community to clean up?

Original laws and constitution that are twisted for a special interest group because of money?

Suppose God is in charge of all things, and that God is letting us do our own thing.  God has in place spiritual laws, then claims that if we don't follow these laws you are going to have to pay your own consequences.

I know this from first hand experience and now, I take responsibility for it, detaching myself of blaming others for my sorrowful life.

When a law is in place, we are to obey that law.  If you don't have a spiritual life, go on your merry way, but if you do, did you ever consider what they really are?

And no way do I follow the spiritual laws perfectly at all, but I do want to learn more and treat them with respect as I claim spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection.

I try to consider spiritual laws like physical laws, like the law of gravity.  If I know I am near a ledge, I  have learned that if I step off, I am liable to get hurt.

And myself, now knowing that spiritual laws are in place, I can now see that God is allowing us to do our own thing, despite the fact if we know the difference whether we know right or wrong.

Even though we know we are doing the wrong thing, we still do it.  Especially when we feel no immediate consequences at the time.

I think the turning point  for my life was coming close to the point of destruction, facing reality and choosing otherwise by seeking out and trying to live by these life saving principals.

I now feel the same about America, losing hope in an ideal peaceful world, getting so fed up with people called politicians telling outright lies without knowing the facts, having people believing the lies and having the lies work.

For one of my good friends said, "the human mind is stupid, it will believe anything".

That hit me like a ton of bricks, and yes it's true.

And, in my bar sitting days, I can admit that I told lies trying to impress people for my self centered motives.

Wondering most of my life, not understanding politics as I was not interested, I have recently heard why there is a division of power in our leaders in Washington DC.

This principal was put into place to prevent dictatorship.  To enable a working democratic system with the members to be working for the people of the United States of America.

This is where I will quote 1 verse from the Bible that pertains to so much destruction and pain.

"The love of money, or power, is the root of all evil"

This has been the downfall of all democratic societies in all of earth's history.

We only have one president at a time.,

There has never been a president that has had as many world problems as he has in our world history.

I not only pray for him, but all of the world leaders as I believe that God is in control of all things on this earth.

For we all are in this together, even our current President.

I believe that the solution for this corrupt sinful world is a collective God centeredness and to let go of the self-serving, self-centeredness that is controlled by evil and that the world knows so well.

A true humility I believe is what God wants, to come to him for true answers of all problems, for God says in scripture, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven"
